A good cheap day out with the kids if the weather permits.

Arrived an hour and a half before the place closed, and had the whole place more or less to myself with the family. The place is not as big as I thought. But it's big enough to spend an hour, or two, there just enjoying the peaceful and calm environment. Kids, and adults alike, will enjoy feeding the salmons, or trout as they call it here, at the various ponds. The resident ducks will vie with the fishes for the food. At last count, we fed rainbow trout, brook trout, tiger trout (fiesty buggers) and albino rainbow trout. Do keep clear of the edge of the ponds while feeding as one is apt to get a drenching when the fishes trash around for their food!

Grounds were still apparently open as stated on the sign there is an honesty box but we were rudely blocked from entering and told it was closed. As we started driving away others were allowed in. I understand the cafe was closed but we didn't make an hour and a half drive to be treated as such. Only to have others allowed access to the grounds.

Far cheaper than so many places makes it a good easy day out with the family.

The salmon ponds is a fantastic destination for a picnic or BBQ lunch. The grounds are immaculately kept and the free BBQ areas are also very well set up. Feeding the huge salmon and trout is great fun!

Anyone who was ever a kid will love feeding the fish. Gardens are superb with rare mature tree's.
